Public consultation on the new Storage Order type in day-ahead market

OKTE, a.s. informs market participants about the ongoing public consultation on the planned new order type Storage Order within the Single Day-Ahead Coupling SDAC.

Nominated Electricity Market Operators (NEMOs) and Transmission System Operators (TSOs) under the Market Coupling Steering Committee (MCSC) are asking market participants for feedback on the design of a new order type being prepared as part of the further development of the Euphemia algorithm used for the day-ahead market coupling calculation.

The purpose of the new order type is to support bidding by systems that can both buy and sell electricity within the same trading day. This mainly concerns batteries and hydro pumped storage units, while the proposed design is technology-neutral and may also be applicable to other systems with similar operational characteristics.

The Storage Order is expected to allow optimized allocation across individual Market Time Units through the Euphemia algorithm. According to the current proposal, this order type should allow market participants to optimize storage system bidding with a lower need for detailed market forecasts and with no risk of losing money on the respective order.

The current expected go-live of the Storage Order in SDAC is planned for Q4 2027.

The public consultation is open until 30 June 2026, end of day. A webinar for market participants is planned for 16 June 2026, from 12:30 to 14:00 CEST. Webinar registration is open until 15 June 2026.

Market participants may provide their feedback through the published consultation questionnaire.
